K|Lens Multiview LAB System

Our Lab System is an intuitive, easy to use but precise option to 3D imaging. It is made for classical macro applications. Combined with an industrial or consumer full frame camera, it allows to visualize and measure in color and 3D geometry.

Our system outputs metrically calibrated point clouds which can be uploaded into standard tools and software packages.

Measure, digitise and visualise in 3D

Todays 3D Solutions for the Lab are costly and complex to use. With our special lens and software, 3D Imaging becomes possible even with standard consumer cameras. The data quality in macro mode matches high-price solutions while the intuitiveness comes with consumer standards. Based on passive multi-view stereo, even complex surfaces and materials can be observed and measured. We are currently developing the system based on a consumer SLR camera into a mobile solution to extend the use case potential.

The Hardware:

Precision optics with image multiplier

  • Our hardware is a light field lens for capturing depth information and “rich light field data” with any given camera
  • A mirror system (“Image Multiplier”) in the K|Lens splits the light rays into 9 separate images which are captured simultaneously on the camera sensor.
  • Based on such 9 perspectives, our software generates 3D information.

Use Cases

In collaboration with customers from different backgrounds, we have validated the unique solution potential of our product in the lab. Our systems are running live and have proven their performance and robustness. The solution potential covers a large variety of use cases, such as:

Material analysis

E.g. in material analysis in the steel industry, today 3D features are extracted using very costly and inflexible solutions like white-light interferometers. Our system allows to generate 3D data of surfaces with a precision of up to 0,07mm. With its ease of use and an attractive price tag, our system can be used for high-level analysis and 3D visualization with true color coded 3D point clouds (RGBD).
